The announcement today that the FBI is investigating allegations of fraud at Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. and AIG is only likely to be the first of many such investigations by regulators and other authorities worldwide during the coming months.
Previous recessions have resulted in very significant frauds being revealed and there is no reason to believe that this recession will prove to be any different.
